Claire J. Harris is an award-winning Australian screenwriter and film producer.

In 2021, she was a writer and story consultant on the young adult mystery series, Dive Club, for Network 10 and Netflix. Dive Club featured in the Top 10 kids’ programs in 20 countries, including Australia. Claire’s episode was also nominated for a prestigious Australian Directors’ Guild Award.

Claire’s first feature film as writer and producer, Zelos, was released in 2017. The film enjoyed a well-received run on the international festival circuit, before being screened in six Australian states and territories.

Her second feature film as a screenwriter, Mistletoe Ranch, was released in cinemas across Australia in November 2022.

She has also participated in writers’ rooms for two TV series in development with HBO, and currently has a wide slate of feature screenplays in development with Australian  and international producers.

With the percentage of female writers on Australian feature films at just 27% and female characters representing only 30% of the total, according to Screen Australia data, Claire is committed to creating compelling female characters for the big and small screens.

Claire holds a Masters in Writing, and a Graduate Certificate in Screenwriting from the Australian Film Television and Radio School. In addition to screenwriting, her short stories and creative non-fiction have won prizes and been published both in Australia and internationally, including in The Guardian and The Big Issue.

Based in Melbourne, Claire also works as a copywriter, editor and proofreader.
